Gyrokinesis methodology is based on Gyrotonic® principles, but does so without the use of equipment. It is similar to a yoga class as it is taught in a group setting. Once called “Yoga for Dancers” Gyrokinesis movements explore spinal mobility. Much like yoga vinyasa, which links poses dynamically using the breath, the fluidity inherent in Gyrokinesis exercises allows you to move your spine in different ways.

Gyrokinesis offers the same benefits as Yoga, Thai Chi, swimming and gymnastics. Seated on low stools you are led through twisting movements that gently stretch and strengthen the body. Floor and standing positions are geared toward relieving tension and sculpting core, arm and shoulder muscles. A cardiovascular workout is achieved by elevating body temperature through a series of exercises targeting legs, abs, back and neck. Gyrokinesis teaches you to sit erect. It opens you up and creates space between your joints. You’ll finish your session brimming with energy! Gyrokinesis practice on a regular basis will revitalize your body’s natural energy and will give you an overall sense of well-being.

  • Refrain from eating an hour and half before your session or class.
  • Wear comfortable clothes; leave your shoes at the door.
  • Turn cell phones off before entering Gyrotonic® SATNAM.


  • Please refrain from wearing fragrances such as perfume, body lotions etc. in consideration for those with allergies.
  • Bring a mat and towel.
